Privacy Statement
The Law Offices of Sonia Col (the Firm) provides legal services in the area of U.S. immigration and related legal matters to employers who hire non-U.S. workers and their foreign employees, and to individuals and their family members ("Clients"). In the course of providing these services, the Firm will typically come into possession of and disseminate information about its Clients with respect to which they may have an expectation of privacy, such as names, addresses, Alien registration numbers, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, parentage, national origin, prior immigration, work, educational and, where applicable, criminal histories, etc. Individual IP addresses may also be retrieved by the Firm in the course of interacting with a Client via the Internet (collectively "Information"). This Information may have numerous sources and be the product of data gathering methods utilized by the Firm in the ordinary course of business, such as in-take questionnaires, or via telephone discussions with Clients and related persons, through searches of public records, and examination of files compiled by others to which we gain access. In all instances, the gathering and/or dissemination process will be made in the context of the Firm's relationship with the Client, and in furtherance of delivering its services to and/or upon authorization from the Client. The Firm does not and will not use Client Information for any purpose other than those associated with the services it is asked to provide. Moreover, the Firm currently does not provide on-line case management tools or other means of electronic access to Client Information.
If required to disclose Client Information to government authorities or to a sponsoring entity in the course of providing its services, the Firm may provide pertinent Information to the extent that it is authorized by the Client to do so or where it otherwise deems it appropriate to delivery of its services. If an employee or delegate of the Firm is given access to the Information, it is pursuant to office procedures and other safeguards designed to preserve the confidentiality and integrity of the Information. Employees are personally responsible for maintaining Client confidence in the Firm. Anyone determined to be in violation of the Firm's guidelines concerning this matter will be disciplined.
Client Information may be maintained in the Firm's computer hard drives as well as in paper formatted files maintained by the Firm in on- and off-premises storage facilities. In all instances, and notwithstanding the foregoing, the Firm will always strive to handle and preserve Client Information in manners which are consistent with ethical rules of professional conduct.
The Firm will also disclose Personal Data to the extent required or authorized by applicable law or by lawful order or requirement of a court or governmental authority as appropriate. Client Information will not be distributed, sold, shared, or disseminated to anyone, or otherwise used for the Firm's own marketing endeavors without the Client's prior consent.
Upon written request, the Firm will grant Clients access to their Information for the purpose of verifying its accuracy. Errors identified or changes requested by the Client in the course of reviewing said Information will be corrected or modified pursuant to appropriate procedures to ensure the integrity of our records.
